GKX Student Housing ​

GKX offers student accommodation at two central locations in Ikast: the GKX Student House (for Pre-IB and IB students) and the GKX Student Apartment (for IB1 and IB2 students). Both locations provide easy access to the gymnasium and the city center.

What does a room in GKX Student House cost?

Deposit: 3 months’ rent, including furniture. Return of deposit: B-scheme, where a fixed monthly amount (e.g., €25) is deducted to cover maintenance and minor repairs. Example: You have paid a €1,800 deposit and move out after living in the apartment for 1 year and 10 months (IB Diploma). You have not caused any damage to the apartment or the furniture. A total of 22 × €25 is deducted, and you receive €1,250 back. Deposit payment: July 1st. First month’s rent: July 25th, and following months on the 25th. Rent and service fees are billed monthly, except for July, which is payment-free. On-account utilities: (Heating, water, electricity) are based on estimated consumption and are settled annually. Additional services: Covers monthly cleaning (kitchen, living room, toilet/shower), internet, and administrative fees. Furnishing: Private rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe, while shared areas and kitchens are fully equipped.

FAQ​​​​​​

How many students live in each unit?

The house hosts four GKX students (two per floor), plus one senior student residing in the basement.

​The apartment accommodates three GKX students.​

​

Will students have single or shared rooms?

All residents are provided with private, single rooms.

​

Are kitchen facilities included?

Yes. Residents have access to a shared kitchen, which comes fully equipped with all basic essentials.

 

How are the bathroom facilities arranged?

In the apartment, one room features a private ensuite bathroom. All other rooms share facilities, maintaining a ratio of approximately one bathroom per two students.

​

What is included in the rent?

The rent covers the room, on-account utilities furniture for both private and shared areas, a fully equipped kitchen, and high-speed internet. â€‹ Additionally, as part of the GKX program, a coordinator visits regularly to provide support and organise social events, typically hosted at the GKX Student House. ​Learn more about the included services.​

Rent and service fees are billed monthly, except for July, which is payment-free.

​

How do "on-account" utilities work?

Your monthly utility payment is an estimated advance contribution. On-account utilities is heating, water, and electricity. They are based on estimated consumption and are settled annually. Based on this, you will either receive a refund or an invoice for the difference.

​

How about meals?

Meals are not included. To kick off the new school year, GKX provides a meal-prep course to help students master healthy cooking.

An optional Mon-Fri meal plan is available via the school canteen for DKK 450/week; this is a separate school service and not a GKX product.

​

What is the notice period for terminating the rental contract?

The notice period is current month plus three months.

​

Can friends or family stay overnight?

Yes, guests are welcome for short visits. Please see Section 8 of our House Rules for specific guidelines and limitations.

​

Can I bring my cat, dog, or rabbit? 

No, animals or pets of any kind are not allowed. Please see Section 9 of our House Rules.

Mandatory GKX Support Package in Ikast

Moving abroad is a big step. Our Support Package removes the stress of practicalities, allowing the student to focus on their studies from day one.

In addition to securing a furnished apartment and insurance, our program is tailored specifically for students living independently. We provide a built-in social life and a reliable "safety net" by connecting students with screened local mentor families and organizing regular community events.
