We bridge the gap between "studying abroad" and "belonging" by connecting independent living with local heart. Living in your own apartment offers great freedom, but we believe everyone needs a place to feel at home. That’s why a local mentor family is a fully integrated part of our support programme for students living off-campus.

We've talked with Marta, the mother of Paula who is 16 and currently studying for her IB Diploma in Denmark. While Paula lives in her own apartment, the family opted for the GKX Mentor Family add-on.

What has been the biggest positive for you as a family, knowing your daughter has this support?
"Our overall experience has been exceptionally positive. What gives us more peace is knowing that, even though our daughter is only 16 and living in her own apartment rather than a boarding school, she is never truly alone. Knowing she has a solid support system in Denmark has allowed us to enjoy this journey alongside her, seeing her grow in such a safe and welcoming environment."
What is the experience like for Paula to have a mentor family?
"Having a mentor family is a vital pillar of this project. For Paula, it is an invaluable cultural exchange that goes beyond just learning about Denmark, it provides her with a sense of “home” away from home. For us, they are an essential support at all levels, emotionally and practically."
When does it provide the most comfort to know she has someone to call?
"The greatest comfort comes during those difficult or necessary moments that naturally arise when living abroad. Knowing there is someone she can call for immediate help or advice gives us immense security. It turns a potentially stressful situation into a manageable one, ensuring she always has guidance in her daily life."
