Family Martos’ Experience
Lili Martos was among GKX’s very first students in 2022. She was one of four young pioneers who came to Denmark to begin their IB studies, and, together with their parents, they placed their trust in GKX, through a national partner, to help them manage both the practical and personal aspects of living abroad.
We recently asked Lili’s family to share their reflections on the support they received and their overall experience with GKX.
Sending a Teen Abroad
When the Martos family decided to let their daughter study in Denmark, it was both an exciting and challenging decision. They knew the opportunity could shape her future, but sending a 17-year-old abroad also came with many questions. Who would support her if she needed help? How would she adapt to a new country, a new school system, and a new life away from home?
For them, the collaboration with GKX became the answer. From the very beginning, the family felt that their daughter was in good hands.

“Without them, everything would have been much more uncertain and scary. This support allowed our daughter to live her everyday life confidently and calmly.”
GKX helped with everything from residence permits and accommodation to mentoring and ongoing communication between school and family. The family especially valued the personal connection that GKX was there not only to solve problems but also to share progress and small everyday wins.

The Family Martos’s Advice to Other Parents
1. Take the Leap
We encourage others to take the plunge when possible. Letting go is hard — one of the toughest choices for parents — as a foreign country, new culture, and unfamiliar environment raise many questions. But with GKX’s supportive community, uncertainty quickly fades.
2. See Pre-IB as an investment, not a wasted gap year
Pre-IB is a bridge year that helps students adapt to a new country, language, and school system both academically and personally.
3. Supportive Community and Caring Staff
GKX offers guidance, reassurance, and genuine kindness, creating a safe, welcoming environment that makes new places less daunting for families and students.
4. Encourage Growth and Gratitude
Living abroad helps students build independence, confidence, and responsibility while also teaching them to appreciate family and everyday moments more deeply.
