SU Criteria and application
To receive SU, you must meet the following criteria:

Activity: You must be an active full-time student and participate in education, including being prepared and active in class, sending in assignments, and participating in exams.

Age requirements: Minimum 18 years old. There is no upper age limit for receiving SU, but there are different rules for SU depending on age.

Citizenship: You must be a citizen of an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland.

Educational requirements: You must be enrolled in a Danish youth education or SU-eligible higher education program. It can be a high school, a vocational, or higher education at the university level

Residence: You must reside in Denmark and be registered in the Danish Central Register (CPR).

Requirement for self-sufficiency via a job in a Danish company: It is an invariable requirement that non-Danish students must work 10-12 hours per week to receive SU. It means you will be asked to submit documentary evidence showing you have regular and genuine work at least 10-12 hours a week. This documentation can, among other things, be pay slips, an employment contract, time sheets and/or duty rosters, documentation for holidays,s and so on. It is essential to note that the work must be on a weekly/ monthly basis and not covered as average over the year.
Annual amount before the reduction in SU: Another essential point to be aware of, is that if you earn more than 22.000€ per year, you will be asked to pay back part of the received SU.
