All you need to know for a fast and uncomplicated residency application process
Upon arrival to Denmark to study or work, you must apply for a residence permit as soon as possible after arrival.
EU citizens can apply and forward all required documents online, but the application will only proceed after you have visited one of SIRI's offices and proven your identity. Appointments can be booked around 4 weeks ahead, and in high-season arrival periods waiting time must be expected.
Non-EU citizens must apply for a Study- or work visa at a Danish embassy or a cooperation partner before arrival.
No matter if you are an EU or non-EU student, we guide you through the process below, where you can find all the needed links to read more about the process and a complete list of documents to be handed in together with the application form.
Important for minors: Students under 18 yrs must have some additional documents, incl. parents' or guardians' approval.
Do you want extra help? If you prefer guided support, you can book GKX staff for complete guidance, including a visit at SIRI and a later installment of MitID on your mobile.
